Movie Club helps a group of friends take turns picking movies, watch them, and rate them. This page explains what we collect, why, who helps us run the service, and how to delete it. Contact: [email protected].

What we collect

• Account: your email address and name, and your profile photo if you sign in with Google or Apple. Sign-in is handled by Clerk.
• What you add to a club: club names, member names and emoji, scheduled movie nights, movie details you type, ratings, comments, and images you upload for a movie.
• Purchases: which ad-removal product you bought, the amount, and the date. Payment details are handled by Google Play, the App Store or Stripe; we never see them. Purchases belong to your Movie Club account, so they apply on the web, Android and iPhone.
• Technical data: IP address and request logs kept briefly by our host (Cloudflare) for security and abuse prevention. The app saves a copy of your club on your device so it opens quickly and works offline.

We don't use analytics SDKs, and we don't sell your data. Accounts without an ad-free purchase see ads: Google AdSense on the website, and Google AdMob in the Android and iPhone apps (a banner, and at most one full-screen ad a day). Google may use cookies, and on Android the device advertising ID, to show and measure those ads (how Google uses data from apps and sites that use its services). Where the law requires it (for example in the EEA and UK), the apps ask for your consent first, and you can change it any time under Club → Ads → Privacy choices. The iPhone app doesn't ask to track you across other companies' apps. Buying No ads removes the ads, and No pop-ups removes the full-screen ones.

How it's used and shared

Only to run Movie Club: signing you in, showing your club to its members, and applying purchases. Everything you add to a club is visible to that club's members. Movie titles and details you schedule (not your ratings text or your name) are added to a shared movie catalog that other clubs can search, and ratings count anonymously toward each movie's score. An image you add to a catalog movie may be reviewed and, if approved, shown as that movie's poster to every club, without your name.

Service providers: Cloudflare (hosting and database), Clerk (sign-in), Google Play, the Apple App Store and Stripe (payments), Google AdSense and AdMob (ads). All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS).

Keeping and deleting data

You can delete your account at any time in the app (Club → Delete account) or on the web (Settings → Delete my account), or by following these steps. Deleting your account removes your sign-in (email, name, photo), your membership in every club, and your purchases' link to you. Club history other members rely on (the member name you used, your picks, ratings and comments in that club) stays in that club unless a member removes you. Purchase records are kept without your identity for financial records.

Children

Movie Club isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.
